Standards and Certification
Specialists trained in organic certification are available to assist in all aspects of organic production and certification. The National Organic Program (NOP) contracted NHT specialists to produce all official guidance documents for organic certification. As the regulations surrounding the NOP continue to evolve and change, NHT specialists are on top of the changes. Specialists are available for individual or group consultation, workshops, and speaking engagements.

Additionally, expertise in designing alternative certification programs based on quality attributes is available. Due to recent research under the Small Business Innovation and Research grants program, we offer special expertise in adapting the French Label Rouge quality certification program for North American growers. While originating with poultry, today the Label Rouge certification program covers meats, dairy products, fish, and produce items. Based on the attributes of quality most important to consumers, the Label Rouge denotes products with regional identities that meet some of the strictest quality requirments in the world. Our experience with this program and other quality labeling and “eco-labeling” programs is available to you.
